My Firefox plugin does not load. What should I do?

When installing the Firefox plugin, I have the message : the signature could not be verified
| Please update your Firefox version. The root certificates required for the plugin installation are not present. |
How to remove the plugin?
| Close all your browser's windows. Go to the control panel, then add/remove programs. Remove the HardwareDetection software. |
How to generate a signature ?
Click the service tab, then click the link Generate a signature.
1.- Start by choosing a background picture. You can use the default picture or import one of yours. Supported formats are (.gif, .jpg or .png). Maximum size is 1Mb and maximum resolution is 600x130 pixels. If you wish to do so, click the Browse button in order to choose which picture to upload from your computer. Click on the Preview button. The selected picture will appear under PREVIEW.
2.- In the part CHOOSING TEXTE, start inputing the text that will describe your configuration. You can choose to compose this text yourself or compose it automatically by clicking the buttons/menus located at the top of the input text field. Eventualy, modify the text. Click the preview picture where you want the top left corner of the text block to be anchored on the picture. Click the button : PREVIEW.
Depending on the result, choose a font, a font size, a new anchor place for the text block and click the button : PREVIEW until the result satisfies you.
3.- In the part GENERATING A SIGNATURE click the button : Download to save the picture on your hard drive. This will allow you to use this signature in your usual email client. Then click the button : Save. Your composition is now saved on my-config.com. The fact of saving a signature automatically generates links that you can use in emails, newsgroups, etc.
4.- To use your signature in my-config.com forum, click the field : Code BBCode. The link will self select itself, copy it. Then go to my-config.com forum. Click on : My controls. To the left, in Menu/Personal profile, click on : Modify maysignature. Paste the BBCode code you previously copied. The picture of your signature now appears under : Your actual signature. Click on : Update my signature. |
Why are the preferences not saved ?
| Check that cookies are activated in your browser options. Check your security software(s) parmeters. |
Why does some pages does not have informations displayed?
| Depending on the confidentiality level chosen in your preferences, some informations can be filtered. Deactivating some modules can also trigger this problem. It is thus advised to leave all the modules activated. Finaly, if a module was led to crash, in order to avoid crashing the browser, the error is handled and the defective module deactivated. |
How long will my configuration be saved on the server?
| In non-connected mode, the XML configurations older than 1 day are deleted at 3.00AM (Paris time) every day. In connected mode, the configuration is saved in your profile. Still, you have the possibility to delete it manually by clicking on delete the configuration in the left hand menu. |
How to provide my configuration to a third-party?
| Detect your configuration. Identify yourself, then use the service : publish my configuration. Copy the given link. Please note that this link will not be working if the configuration was destroyed (see previous question). |
Does my-config.com gather personal informations without telling me?
| The plugin does NOT gather named or personally tracable informations. The processed XML configuration stays a maximum of 15 days on the server. You can use the manual delete function if you wish to delete it yourself (see previous question). No configuration is given to any third-party. The user have the possibility to filter the provideed informations using the confidentiality levels in the preferences. Moreover, this website is registered to french C.N.I.L. under number 1016058. |

Is my-config.com compatible with 64 bits technology?
| my-config.com works with a 64 bits processor. The AMD64 driver has been developed. Hence, this web site works with Windows XP® 64 bits, Windows Server 2003® 64 bits, Windows Vista@ 64 bits as well as with Windows Server 2008® 64 bits. |
Is the HardwareDetection plugin free of distribution and use on other web sites?
| No : the techology HardwareDetection stays its author property. His diffusion is for now limited to my-config.com and a few other web sites under contract. Any other diffusion is illegal |
Can the HardwareDetection plugin be freely used on an intranet?
| No. I am currently thinking about a solution especially developed for call centers, help desks and networks administrators. |
